Last fall, employees at popular Tampa restaurant The Bricks tested positive for coronavirus, forcing a temporary closure that basically extended into the new year. The Ybor City venue is back, however, and last Sunday it hosted a concert from drummer Blaque Dynamite.
Creative Loafing Tampa Bay photographer Javi Ortiz said sets from the drummer and Katara Trio were phenomenal, adding that locals like Psych Montano, Gat$ and Shella ended up joining the trio.
It was definitely a spectacular night of extraordinary jazz fusion with creative artists all happy to be performing and sharing space with the community, Ortiz wrote.
Ortiz added that reps with promoter FWDThinkers were doing a good job asking attendees to keep their masks up outside. Inside he noticed that masks came back up a little less after patronsallowed to have masks down to drink while seated, per city ordinancesstarted moving around the bar.Ray Roa
