The fictional Florida home of Blanche Devereux and her roommates Rose, Sophia and Dorothy is now on the market for the first time.
The exterior of the home, which is actually located at 45 N Saltair Ave. in Los Angeles, was featured in every single episode "Golden Girls," and was supposed to be set in the suburbs of Miami, while the interior shots were obviously filmed in a Hollywood studio.
Originally built in 1955, the actual interior of the home remained a mystery to the public, partially because it's been owned the same owners David Noble Barry III and Margaret Carr Barry, who both recently passed away. Now, the 2,901-square-foot midcentury-modern home is being sold by a trust for 2,999,000.
According to online listing site Realtor, the late couple's son says the home was used as a filming location for the first season. But NBC later built a replica at Disney's Hollywood Studio after the Barry's gave the studio the home's original blueprints. The replica at DHS was torn down in 2003.
Well, now you can own the real deal.
The home was designed by award-winning Hawaiian architects Johnson and Perkins, and comes with 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It also features floor to ceiling glass, clerestory windows, high-beamed ceilings, sliding shoji screens, built-in cabinetry, original oak floors and the original turquoise, avocado and yellow kitchen.
