Richard Childress, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and former NRA board president, is trying to sell his Florida mansion in Spruce Creek, the same private fly-in community John Travolta once called home until the HOA said his plane was too big.
Located at 1900 Seclusion Dr, in Port Orange, the four-bedroom, five-bathroom villa-style house overlooks a lake and golf course, but arguably the best part of this pad is its access to a private plane hanger, and a 4,000-foot paved runway.
According to property records, the 74-year-old racing legend bought the property for $1 million back in 2013. The listing is currently asking $1,295,000, and is represented by Rachel Mcgrath of Premier Sotheby's International.
Childress has been involved with NASCAR for nearly five decades, as both a racer and owner. But in 2019 he made headlines after resigning as an NRA board member after just five months on the job. While he said he wanted to focus more on business, his resignation letter was submitted shortly after he criticized the organization for spending an obscene amount of money on outside council from William Brewer, a lawyer many have blamed for causing a civil war within the NRA.
