On Thursday, Seminole Heights studio and letterpress Labyrinth opened its doors for “Heightened Senses” a night of art and music (from Katara Trio, whose drummer Natalie DePergola co-produced the event along with Tampa’s FWD Thinkers collective). Tampa Heights art gallery MergeCulture provided additional aesthetics along with performance artists Selena Ferrer, Joel Ramirez and Eric Pharoah. Masks were required as attendees moved through the shop although some of the pics show attendees without them.
"The event was a major success," Taylor Flom of FWD Thinkers told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. "Next month will be even more dialed in."
"Masks are required for every event we do. There are moments where people removed to sip their drink, no different than a restaurant. Staff was circulating and reminding people. Announcements were made over the microphone. Large bay door and front door were both open to allow for an open air feel in the back room," Flom added. "Everything is always done in compliance with CDC, state and county regulations and guidelines. These are our friends and family in attendance and we take their safety very seriously."
Flom added that events like "Heightened Senses" are at the heart of what FWF Thinkers wants to accomplish as a collective.
"This night was conceived in the hopes of connecting like minded people for a refreshing escape into mind expanding talent and unparalleled technique. An immersion of specifically crafted sounds, handmade works, and performance art. With an obsessive devotion to detail, together we will challenge the conventional and explore the full reach of the spectrum," Flom said about the evening.
He invites folks to help FWD Thinkers continue the event on the last Thursday of every month.
"At ‘Heightened Senses’ we are focused on providing a safe and tolerant space for all individuals. Please join us on the last Thursday of every month. Coming together, celebrating the sounds and absorbing the textures that embody the soul of Seminole Height," he added. "Our objective is harmony.”
