Photos of Frankie and the Witch Fingers playing The Bends in St. Petersburg
Before the band got to St. Petersburg, Frankie and the Witch Fingers spent close to a week opening amphitheaters on ZZ Top's 50th anniversary tour. It takes a certain level of energy to play massive sheds, and the Los Angeles-based outfit brought it into The Bends — a relative tin can of a venue — on Friday. The good (and bad) news is that the energy came roaring back from those who were smart enough to brave a little rain to see one of America's best rock and roll bands right now. It was wild in there. So wild, in fact, that guitarist Josh Menashe took a mic stand to the eye while frontman Dylan Sizemore's effects pedalboard ended up being rendered relatively unusable. It's probably safe to say that Frankie and the Witch Fingers will never play a show that intimate ever again, but at least St. Petersburg got a lick.
