In a welcome sign that the recovery from coronavirus closures is on the upswing, Tampa’s “Black Business Bus Tour” returned after more than a year away. Tour founder Candy Lowe met attendees at Al’s Finger Licking Good Soul Food in Ybor City for a 9 a.m. departure before bringing 50 shoppers to seven different businesses in East Tampa, Ybor City and surrounding neighborhoods.

Immpact Magazine founder Dee Wilkins, who helped Lowe with the event, told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay in addition to the tour, 37 vendors set up at Al’s for the post-tour market.

There’s no date on the next tour, but 2021 marks the 15th anniversary of the Black Business Bus Tour—which has never been rained on in a decade-and-a-half—so Wilkins thinks there could be another tour scheduled in June or July.—Ray Roa
