The ‘Hudson Beach House,’ an iconic midcentury-modern Florida gem, is now for sale


A rare midcentury-modern home designed by renowned architect Ralph Twitchell, a founding member of the Sarasota School of Architecture movement, is now on the market.

Built in 1953, the "Hudson Beach House," is located at 616 Valencia Rd., in Venice, and features Ocala block construction, sliding glass walls, and terrazzo floors throughout the main living area. The 2,104 square-foot home comes with two-bedrooms and two-bathrooms, as well as an updated HVAC system and roof.

Twitchell is considered the father figure and founder of the Sarasota School of Architecture. Twitchell was responsible for an enormous amount of ground-breaking structures in the Tampa Bay area, like the Cocoon House, the old Riverview High School, the Sarasota High School, the Revere Quality House, the Lido Beach Casino and more.

The current asking price is $839,000, and the listing agent is Erin DiFazio of Chrome Realty.
