Despite urban legends, lovebugs aren't some genetically modified super bug designed to rid the state of mosquitoes. In fact, they don't eat mosquitos. They're just a very disgusting and very invasive species from Central America that somehow made their way to Florida sometime after World War II. But regardless of their origins, it appears that they're here to stay, and they're also here to bang.
Evidence of this can be found every May through September, when swarms of these horny little turds are smashed against your car windshield. Here are a few of the more acute observations of what it's like to live in Florida during lovebug season.
