This completely restored Florida schoolhouse from 1927 is now for sale
Ready to take on a different type of educational debt? A historic schoolhouse in rural Florida with an exceptional report card is currently on the market.
Located at 1490 Marie St. in Malabar, which is just south of Melbourne, the 8,056-square-foot gothic-style building was originally constructed in 1927 and was the area's first schoolhouse until its closure in 1930, due to the Great Depression. According to Florida Today, over the years the property has been used as a private residence with apartments, a woodworking shop and mill, and most recently, a wedding and event venue called The Banyan Estate.
The 2.5-acre estate, which sits along the Malabar Trail Head and Scrub Sanctuary, is actually zoned as mixed use, allowing for both a residence and a business.
The schoolhouse is currently asking $1,150,000, and the listing agent is JJ Tippins and Joanne Murdoch of Pastermack Real Estate.
